Holiday Greetings. Holiday Giving.
Don’t forget the tots!
We also stuffed boxes with plushy cuteness (as well as games, cars and robots, of course!) for our annual Toys for Tots drive, and sent Toys a cash donation. We partnered with the Sheridan Story, a northeast Minneapolis organization that fights child hunger by providing food for the weekend to hungry children. In a little over two weeks, we collected 1,363 food items, an impressive 797 of them coming from our Warehouse/Parts Team (go warehouse!). This is enough food to feed about 272 children for one weekend. We worked earlier in the year with the Sheridan Story to package food for distribution.
A year of giving back
DC Group isn’t just active during the holidays – volunteerism is a way of life year-round. Here are some other projects from 2017.
Casual month fundraiser; The Bridge for Youth in Minneapolis
Employees purchased a “casual day” pass for the month, our CEO matched the funds, and all was donated to The Bridge for Youth for homeless teens. We also gathered 15 bags of clothes for The Bridge.
Blood drive at Memorial Blood Center
A full 30% of employees participated. The free snacks possibly had something to do with it.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
In October we walked with hundreds of others to raise money for breast cancer research and other support for survivors. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk had a great turnout.
Earth Day
The DC Group team rolled up our sleeves and foraged for trash along the Mississippi River riverbank on Earth Day (after all, our headquarters is right on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi!). Here we are many, many bags later.
We’re grateful to everyone – employees, clients and partners – for making it possible to be a company that continues to give as we continue to grow. Thank you!
